We are taking a break from forgotten celebrities for a week. Last week a comic book legend passed away. Paul Coker Jr. passed away . He was 93. He worked at Mad magazine for as long as i remember and created Horrifying Cliches, which i remember fondly. Also worked for Rankin/Bass for years and did character designs for 40 years of holiday specials.He did the design of Frosty!This Sunday , August 14th I'll be set up at the First State Comic Con' just outside of Wilmington, DE.swing by. Travel Log.Let’s get this right out of the way. I DID NOT win the Mega Millions drawing for a billion dollars the other day. (For one thing, my customers would have had free comics for life if that would have happened. It was not meant to be. And another, if the winner is reading this. Stop by and we’ll fill your new car full of comics.)Stopped by Derek’s Essington show this morning. Some new blood and some old timers are back. Paul from AA Comics And Cards in Lebanon PA was set up after almost 2 years after a horrible accident and John Runamaker was back at the show. So that is good news. One of the Quotes of The Day was a guest trying to find the promoter who he didn’t know-“He’s the Guy in the Tie Dye shirt.” That’s Derek.Spent some money- got the news and announced CHUD- October 23rd in Swedesboro. 11 weeks.Knocked off some of my want list at Showcase Comics Swarthmore and dropped in at The Comic Book Shop in Delaware. And I stole some flyers for the First State Comic Con Show I will be at in 2 weeks. Dave had a problem getting me flyers , so it is just as well. This week’s forgotten Celebrity is Fans of Totie Fields a groundbreaking night club comedian who was on all the variety and talk shows of the 1960’s and 70’s (Ed Sullivan, the Tonight Show , Mike Douglas and Merv.) as those shows disappeared , her and her acts were largely forgotten. ...
